David Baum was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Termiz, Uzbekistan between December 1992 - December 1993. He completed his Peace Corps training in Guatemala. Baum served as an education volunteer teaching English as a Foreign Language in a public school to children aged ten to eighteen. He also conducted teacher-training workshops in communicative methodology, materials creation, and alternative assessment. While a Volunteer, Baum founded, published, and edited national English teachers’ newsletter, established English Teachers’ Resource Book Project, and led English and Cooking Clubs. After the Peace Corps, Baum returned to the United States to teach Spanish as a Foreign Language.
