Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo was a former policy analyst at the Environmental Protection Agency who blew the whistle on the agency for causing environmental and human health violations during it's mining projects in South Africa. As a result, Coleman-Adebayo founded and leaders the No FEAR Coalition, EPA Employees Against Racial Discrimination, and the Bethesda African Cemetery Coalition.
Coleman-Adebayo is a descendant of slavery. Her family was enslaved in Dublin, Georgia and moved to Michigan during the Great Migration. This collection consists of family photographs of Coleman-Adebayo's ancestors.
Coleman-Adebayo loaned her photographs to AU Archives & Special Collections for digitization to contribute to the Historic African River Road Connections project, documenting historically Black communities, many of which have been displaced, living along River Road in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
