Areté, the title of the Center for Teaching Excellence's (CTE) faculty newsletter, is the Greek term often equated with the English words 'virtue,' 'excellence,' 'goodness,' and 'knowledge.' It embodies a belief that "the highest human potential is knowledge and all other human abilities are derived from this central capacity." The publishing of Areté ceased in Spring 2009 prior to the renaming of the Center for Teaching Excellence as the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning.
