Humanities Truck Community Archive
“Celebrate Petworth” is an annual free neighborhood festival organized by and for the residents of Petworth and surrounding neighborhoods celebrating the creativity, diversity, culture, people and quality of life of the neighborhood through storytelling, live entertainment, fare from local restaurants, clinics, contests, crafts, and more. This collection features interviews and images created by the Humanities Truck team when they attended the 2024 "Celebrate Petworth" Festival on September 14, 2024.
The Truck team’s project for this event was entitled “Portraying Petworth.” Director Dan Kerr, graduate fellows Daiki Tsumagari, Inaya Rivera, Madison Weber, Ethan Norris-Weber, and community fellow Angie Whitehurst, invited event attendees to contribute to a community collage and to provide oral history interviews on their experiences in the Petworth community.
