Humanities Truck Community Archive
The Humanities Truck took part in D.C. Pride Month throughout June 2026. The festivities began on June 17th at the District of Pride Showcase, where parked outside historic Lincoln Theatre on U Steet, the Humanities Truck team interviewed and photographed event attendees. The 2026 showcase featured the history and progress of the LGBTQIA+ community in DC. Outside the Lincoln Theatre, the Humanities Truck also displayed the Ride with Pride exhibit of photographs depicting past Pride events and photographs of a 1987 AIDS demonstration taken by community photographer and local activist, Nancy Shia.
On June 21, 2026 the Humanities Truck spent the time before the Pride Festival talking to event-goers about their experiences with Pride. The Humanities Truck team again exhibited the Ride with Pride exhibit, interviewed attendees, provided prompt cards asking attendees about what the future of LGBTQIA+ rights means to them, and offered to photograph portraits of visitors. Find out more about the events on the Humanities Truck website. This digital collection includes photographs of attendees and the exhibit, prompt cards, one video recording of an oral history interview with the accompanying transcript.
