Humanities Truck Community Archive
The Humanities Truck joined the National Park Service for Late Skate at Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion. During the event, community members, neighbors, family, and friends host cookouts and gather at the pavilion to skate and do family-oriented activities including face painting. At three separate events, in June, July, and August 2019, the Humanities Truck team conducted brief interviews with community members about the importance of Anacostia Park to the neighborhood including themes about go-go music and skating. After recording, the team played the interviews on the opposite side of the truck to quickly allow narrators and passers-by and spectators to see themselves and hear their stories. This digital collection includes recordings of the interviews, photographs of the event, and event planning materials.
